INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Rory Rowland, an Independence small business owner, secured the Democratic nomination for Missouri’s 29th House District today, launching his campaign forward as he seeks to win the open seat in November’s special election. Rory Rowland is currently the only candidate in the race with the experience and the resources to offer voters of the 29th District the leadership they deserve.
“The 29th District has been vacant for too long, and it’s time that hard-working families and taxpayers here receive fair representation in Jefferson City,” Rowland stated. “As a lifelong Truman Democrat, I am humbled by the support I have received from my family, friends, and the 29th Legislative District Democratic Committee.”
Rory Rowland has been a Democrat all his life, looking up to former President Harry S Truman as a political inspiration for becoming a public servant. He currently works as a professional speaker and consultant to businesses and fmancial institutions and is an active member of St. Mark’s Parish.
“I promise to stand up for working families and taxpayers by opposing Right-to-Work legislation, supporting Medicaid expansion, and promoting ethics reform,” said Rowland.
Rory has lived in Independence for 34 years with his wife, Tedi. Their four children were raised in Independence and attended school in the Independence School District. Rory and Tedi are members of St. Mark’s Catholic Church where he has served on the Finance Committee for 20 years.
In 1986, he completed his MBA from the University of Missouri — Kansas City and went on to serve as President of two credit unions in the Kansas City area. After that, Rory started Rowland Consulting where he speaks to business groups all over the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
